Miranda’s Room

May 9th, 2008 · No comments

Remember what it was like to be a teen-ager. Posters on the wall, cool knick knacks and gadgets. My daughter is now in that phase of her life. She spends 90% of her time at home in her room with the door shut. I will pop in on her occasionally just to be nosy and make sure everything is A OK. Usually I find her reorganizing or arranging her stuff. She loves to move her bed, and her other furniture on a semi monthly basis. I think it is great she shows so much interest in her space. She also has magazines and print outs of online pictures with teen bedding. She circles them and adds the prices up. It’s funny that today I am writing this because last night I just googled bedding for teenagers. Right now she has a very nice comforter but it is a little heavy for the summer months. I was thinking maybe something lighter. My search tonight will bring me to www.VisionBedding.com. I’ll let you know if she and I can agree on anything.

Times are a Changin’

May 9th, 2008 · No comments

Back in 1991 near my mother’s house a huge new movie theater was build. Before that you had to go to one of the two big cities to visit a Large theater. Multi Screens and Stadium seating this place was nice. I would always watch the movies Trailers and decide what movie I want us to see then being so close it wasn’t a problem dropping in and out to see a quick movie. A few weeks ago this theater closed it’s doors for good. Now we have to drive to the next town over if we want to see a movie. It’s frustrating because the movie theater was always very busy and now the one we have to go to is twice as busy. There is no rational why they closed it. Reading comments on other sites the local public is very upset.

“Great, as if Buckland Hills Cinemas was not busy enough.”
“So what will they do with the monstrosity of a building?”
“The parking lot looked full every time I drove by and I went to the movies about 2 weeks ago, it was so crowded we had to wait in line, what are they talking about??? Not only that it cost me $20 just to get a ticket and a popcorn/soda, how can they not be making any money?”

My friend Sosuna-o-Lata loves gory disgusting movies. The un-rated controversy causing movie Frontieris being released. No longer can she just drive a mile to see the movie she’ll have to drive several miles, park, pay more and wait in line.

Oh and the big building. I heard they are turning it into a Lowes. My 6th grader told me that and she heard it at school. (so it must be true).

Crazy Kids

May 8th, 2008 · No comments

On Sunday May 4, three men took off in their car, a 2005 scion xB, to hit all 48 states in under 120 hours non-stop.  On Thursday May 8 they reached their goal in only 106 hours while traveling 7008 miles. You can read all about it because they blogged all about it on their website. I used to be proud when I made good time on car trips without stopping but those days are long gone. Now I don’t want the plane flights too early, and the hotels better have wifi and an indoor pool.

Here are the stats from the trip…

In Need of a Vacation

May 8th, 2008 · No comments

It seems like everyone at work is leaving for vacation this month except me. I’m not bitter at all I’m just pointing it out. We have some going to California, one heading to London and yet another one is off to Spain. I know. They are all seeing great places and I’m here. No vacation and all work. I’ve been dreaming of Paul and I going to a ultra fine hotel. When I was searching I found some Paris Hotels and London Hotels. I’m not sure if I would rather have us spend time in Birmingham Hotels or Spain. The trip to Spain sounds completely awesome.

Of course seeing London and the Queen sounds very appealing also. There is simply to many places we want to see and not enough time or money for us. If you had the ability to go anywhere in the world, Where would you pick? We have a list of places and someday we are going to go. I’m not talking here in the States I’m talking aboard.

Should She Stay or Should She Go?

May 8th, 2008 · No comments

It’s all the talk. Hillary Clinton and if she should drop out of the race.

Hillary is not on the top of my list of potential candidates who will receive my vote in November. However, she has every right to stay in the race. The party trying to force her to get out now is not what America is all about.

Just my opinion. Plus her being in the race makes my morning drive in really funny. The radio station I listen to does awesome impressions of Hillary and Bill.

When in Need

May 8th, 2008 · No comments

Aerocare is a recognized air ambulance throughout the world. With highly trained medical personnel and state of the art equipment with highly trained flight crews. They maintain their fleet aircraft and assure that you have the best air ambulance service if medivac is ever needed anywhere.

It is also very comforting to me that they normally allow a family member to come along for no additional charge. This is all knock on wood of course because hopefully you won’t need an air ambulance service ever. If you do though, Aerocare service is available to patients in need to be transported over 200 miles.

24 hours the day 7 days a week in and out of the United States and Canada. One call will help you determine if insurance will cover charges for an air ambulance. Their knowledgeable staff of flight coordinators can obtain pre authorization on your behalf. They will submit all claims forms and if they do not obtain authorization from your insurance company you will not be required for payment at the time of service.

Laughter in Advertising

May 8th, 2008 · No comments

This should be the sign outside the gas station.  At least I would get a laugh for my $50 dollars going in to the gas tank instead of crying.  I’m going to need a part-time job to afford to get to my job if this gets any higher.  I paid $3.89 a gallon today here in Connecticut.

Smells Like Teen Spirit

May 8th, 2008 · No comments

A while back a wrote about a contest to introduce the new triscents product line. Triscents is an electronic air freshener using oil for scent. The fragrances have three separate scents in one that changes continuously through out the day. Not only that but they last up to 60 days. Coupons for Triscents are available online at their site. I went out and got another one after my last post and put it in the family room down in the lower level. I love it. It captures your senses witout being overwhelming.

Tri ScentsThe contest has a $20,000 grand prize to make over a room in the winners home. Now that people have submitted their videos to be judged it is time to vote. You can view the semi-finalist gallery and pick your favorite. I am voting for the picture in this screen shot here. All that pink in a living room. They need a $20,000 make over for that poor room.

So go now and vote for your favorite submission. Remember you only have until June 7th and you can only vote once a day. Help one of these desperate in need of some more color (or less in this case) get a make over. I wish I had entered my submission. I would really of liked a bedroom make over.

Mama Mia Thats a Lot of Pizza

May 8th, 2008 · No comments

PizzaGuyIn the past seven years Papa John’s Pizza has made more than $1 billion dollars in pizza sales online. In 2001 the chains total online sales were just $20.4 million dollars. Last year alone their online sales amounted to almost $400 million dollars. Once again its clear that the winning recipe for consumers and businesses is convenience. It’s funny now to hear that the old fashioned way is to phone your order in.
